Are you in your second or third trimester of pregnancy?

During the November lockdown we put on free pregnancy classes following the format below.

We are happy to share the recordings of these classes to support pregnant women to stay active in this crazy time, please get in contact if you would like to be sent the recordings.

If you have any questions about the class please do not hesitate to contact me: han@hanhorlicktraining.com

Format of the class:

1. Extensive warm up focusing on mobility

2. Strength based exercises focusing on preparing your body for an active birth and strengthening it to help in your postnatal recovery

If you have a dumbbell or a kettlebell that would be handy. If not, we can work with what you have got, whether that's a couple of tin cans, a resistance band or your own bodyweight (including bump!)

3. Some focus on your pelvic floor

4. Breathing and stretching at the end of class

I did my pre and post natal training with Jenny Burrell from Burrell Education

Did you know the UK's Chief Medical Officer's Official Guidelines for pregnancy recommends two muscle strengthening activities per week.

A little bit about my pregnancy...

I am expecting my first baby in January 2021!

Read all about my first trimester here.

You will have spent your entire pregnancy, like me, in this state of either full lockdown or trying to navigate the changing restrictions. My husband hasn’t been able to come to any of my scans which has been really hard. I have to say, I haven't been impressed with any of my NHS appointments, they have made me feel less supported rather than more.

The best thing that we did together was a hypnobirthing course with the amazing Zoe Donkin for the Hypnobirthing Place. It has given me such a positive outlook on pregnancy and birth and very importantly it has given Jack a role.

One thing that has helped me through all of this uncertainty is movement. If I don’t move during the day, I feel exhausted, I eat worse and I have no motivation. I try to do three strength sessions per week, two yoga practices and I go for a walk everyday. As importantly, I do also acknowledge when I need to rest, I have never put my feet up more frequently! I have finally got over the guilt feeling of doing nothing, because it's not nothing right - we are growing babies!

You are in good hands as I have been trying out all of these strength sessions over the last 16 weeks (after I got over my sickness).
